Candidates for the FoCH board, 2020 -2023
Cynthia McWilliams served on the FoCH Advisory Panel for several years and was elected to the FoCH board to fill an unexpired term in 2018. As a current board member, she serves on the Fundraising Committee for the restoration of Kirby’s Mill, the Hike Committee, the Invasive Plant Management Task Force, and the Historic Structure Stabilization Task Force. She has served as an appointed advisor to the RJRD Governance Committee and currently serves on the RJRD Fundraising Committee. As a member of the Ohio Horseman’s Council, she helped organize and led the 2016 Derby Day event at RHP which raised funds to build an equestrian parking lot and to rebuild the bridle trails. Other contributions to RHP include co-chairing FoCH’s ‘Cozy up to Winter Wonders’ event and lending her design skills to beautify the park.
Cynthia’s interest in preservation led her to renovate the 1840’s stone cottage where she lives and from which she operates a landscape design and maintenance firm, a dog boarding kennel and a horse boarding and training stable. Over 35 years spent as a small business owner has provided her with a breadth of diverse skill sets which can benefit FoCH.
Her interest in RHP began the minute she drove down the drive during one of the FoCH Open Houses in 2014. “It evoked my fondest memories of decades spent at summer camps (as a camper and riding instructor) and ignited ideas for the future possibilities for RHP”. Whenever her schedule allows, she loves to ride the bridle trails at RHP and hike with two and four legged friends.
Chris Naizer [Note: Chris' last name was inadvertently misspelled as "Naiver" on the ballot] has served as a very active member of the FoCH Advisory Panel since its inception. As the Facebook Coordinator for FoCH, she keeps tabs on all FoCH events, proactively pursuing photos and stories to post online. She was instrumental in bringing the North East Ohio Orienteering Club into RHP for events. She is part of the FoCH “Barberrian” crew, the core group of volunteers that removes the most difficult invasive species. She is the Advisor of Venture Crew 2335 which often performs service projects at Richfield Heritage Preserve.
Chris earned a BSN at the University of Akron. After leaving the Emergency Department as a Registered Nurse she began teaching the Responsible Social Values at schools in Summit, Medina, and Portage. She taught over 10,000 middle school aged students Risk Avoidance and refers to her time at Alliance for Healthy Youth as her dream job. This past year she returned to working as an RN School Nurse and Substitute Teacher on an as needed basis. Chris has volunteered as a troop leader for both GS & BSA, Choir Booster and all around cheer leader and photographer for any event her children were involved in at Highland. Her passions include faith, family, nature, camping, gardening, and youth!
