The Buckeye Trail at Crowell Hilaka.

Built April 28 -  July 9, 2016

Picture
The new trail segment enters the park at the lower Oviatt Gate. It follows the main camp road north past Kirby's Mill and Kirby House, continues along the west shore of the lower lake until it reaches Garfield Hall.  At Garfield, the trail makes a sharp turn off the road to go around the left ( west) side of the Hall.  The trail behind the hall offers a picturesque view of Cook's Cabin & the Oxbow. It follows the ridge overlooking the the main creek, crosses the gas cut and connects with Deer Leap Trail, still following the creek. The Trail emerges from Deer Leap at the Boat House.  It turns left ( west) to cross the bridge over Lake Linnea spillway, continues along the concrete wall of the dam, follows the lake shore through the Great Meadow and re-enters the woods. It connects with the old Pine Lake Trail across the creek from North house, turns right to cross Cobbledam Bridge, then takes an immediate left at the end of the bridge, bearing northeast to the Adirondack Shelters.  From the Adirondacks, the trail loops back onto the main camp road heading back south past Coach House, Amity House, and taking the main driveway out to Broadview Road by Giant Eagle.
