CH memories September 28, 2009

GSNEO had originally slated to close the camp as of October 1, 2009; October being the start of GSUSA programming year. This decision ended up being partially reversed due to member protests. But the south side, which included the GS history museum in Kirby's Mill would be closing.

Sunny Baddour was doing the final artifact removal on September 28. Her daughter was coming in for a last campout with friends from resident camp. The "girls" roamed all around the camp, taking pictures, saying good bye. They helped Sunny shut down the mill and some of them happened upon a FoCH meeting being held on Amity porch.

The girls found the Last Chance tent unit sign down on the ground and brought it to Faraway Pines, where we were staying. Then, we used Jacqui's duct tape to tape it above the Faraway Pines tent unit sign on the shelter. So, then it essentially reads, "Last Chance for Faraway Pines," which was basically what our weekend was all about. They took the picture of the sign, and I took a picture of them.— with Susan Kabat, Corey Ringle and Jacqui Gareau in Richfield, Ohio.

Best meal ever...Tuesdays: Tomato Soup, Grilled Cheese, and Tater Tots...I lived for Tuesday's Lunch...and best yet...followed by no songs and straight to me time...what a perfect day...

We got to hear stories of Shamrock 'sneaking' in to grab dessert and getting stuck in between the kitchen and dining room dish access...

We found a crawfish! At Hilaka! In the middle of the road! Corey saved it (him, actually - she named him Timmy) with my mess kit plate. — with Corey Ringle.

Chillin' in the shelter at night. This is the moment I'll likely remember most when I think of the weekend because it felt the most like why I loved working at resident camp. — with Sarah Spiegler, Corey Ringle,Susan Kabat, Jacqui Gareau and Jacqueline Walsh Yue in Richfield, Ohio.
