The drainage of the lakes for dam inspection provides a rare opportunity to view what lies beneath.

View from Garfield Bridge. Much of the sediment in the lower lake was deposited during the storms of summer 2010, when the cliff behind High Lea shelter collapsed into the ravine and was swept downstream.
By mid-July, the lower lake had refilled.   The upper lake took longer.
